The event will include a buffet-style dinner and a cash bar. It will begin with networking at 5:30 p.m., and dining will be from 6:00 to 6:45 p.m. The auction program will begin at 6:45 p.m. and end at approximately 9:00 pm. The list of the outstanding entrepreneurs to be auctioned is being created now. Bidders will not be permitted to purchase a competitor. Bidders and entrepreneurs must be present to participate in the event. Bidders will be informed that the protégé day is not to be used for a sales presentation or for other personal agendas. The Kansas City business community will be invited to attend the event. It is planned to have gift bags containing ad specialty items and gift certificates that will be given to each attendee. There will be door prizes awarded by the drawing from business cards. All attendees will have a chance to win door prizes. A professional auctioneer will auction the entrepreneurs. There will be a Master and Mistress of Ceremonies. Each winning bidder/protégé will be introduced on stage to their entrepreneur and a photograph taken of him or her. Our Event Purpose The Protégé for a Day entrepreneur auction will be a unique, enlightening, educational, promotional, and highly enjoyable experience for all participants: the entrepreneurs, the protégés, the corporate sponsors, and the audience. We encourage the Kansas City business community to attend and bid! The Protégé for a Day event will promote, profile and draw attention to the auctioned entrepreneurs in the media, to business organizations, and to the area business community. The auction will assist in building relationships between the entrepreneurs and their protégés. We hope that it will provide a greater understanding of the entrepreneurial and business development processes. Corporate sponsors will also benefit through visibility in a professional advertising campaign and during the evening of the event. Another goal of Protégé for a Day is to offer greater exposure for the presenting organization, the Kansas City Council of Women Business Owners. We would like to bring our organization’s vision, our purpose, and our record of success to the forefront. We would also like to introduce our members to other outstanding entrepreneurs and develop relationships with auction corporate sponsors. Corporate partnerships will be offered to help underwrite the costs of the event. The funds raised at the auction will be used to further the KC-CWBO mission, and to underwrite office and administrative costs, educational programs, communication materials, and other basic expenses of the organization.
